What comes to your mind when you think of Goa? Partying with your gang, endless beaches, seafood, casinos and some more partying? Well, of course! But, trust me, Goa is so much more than that. Contrary to its infamous party culture, Goa has something to offer to everyone. It's a place where life slows down and every sunset feels more meaningful and surreal. It's a total vibe. Isn't that why, we all, no matter who we are or what we like, want to visit Goa with our friends, partners or solo, at least once in this lifetime?
So, let's dive into this guide that is as extensive as Goa and will help you see the Goa that You would love to see.
India's smallest state by area, Goa, is nestled between Maharashtra and Karnataka with the Arabian Sea adorning its Western shores. Within just 3,700 square kilometres, this tropical state packs a punch with its diverse landscapes, including beaches, islands, lush forests, and hulking Western Ghats.
The climate in Goa, as we all know, is tropical with three main seasons.
Winter: Goa experiences winter from November to February with temperatures ranging between 20-32°C. This is the perfect season to live the hype of the party capital.
Summer: From March to May, Goa is quite hot and humid but a really good time to experience a less crowded Goa and chill in your own style.
Monsoon: My personal favourite is the Goan Monsoon from June to October. It is the best time to soak in laid-back vibes and natural wonders in this paradise.
The tropical paradise of Goa has had a long history and various influences. It was reigned by Mauryas, Kadambas and finally the biggest influence that is visible even today is the centuries-long Portuguese colonization. The Portuguese arrived in the early 16th century and ruled for over 450 years, leaving behind an evident legacy. How else would you get the unique Baroque architecture, vibrant festivals and even that delicious cuisine?
No! It's not Party, you guys. Goa is honestly a Susegad. A Konkani word that means a state of contentment, peace and relaxation. Don't you agree? Its culture is a harmonious blend of numerous traditions that celebrates music, dance, food and a laid-back lifestyle as a religion.

Two-Wheeler Rentals: If you want to soak in the true vibes of Goa, renting a two-wheeler is your best bet. Trust me, you will never forget those rides for the rest of your life. Rental rates vary according to the season but usually start at INR 300/day.
Car Rentals: Hey buddy! I love long rides but want to be a little more comfortable, you say? Cool then, renting a car isn't a bad option either. Rental rates vary according to the season but usually start at INR 1000/day.
Taxi: Well, if you don't want to be in the driver's seat at all, opt for taxis. Mind you, the fares are fixed for every place and you can check them here, don't let anybody put a hole in your pocket. You can also check out the only app-based service available in Goa, Goamiles.
Buses: Buses are way more economical than taxis but way more unreliable.
Note: App-based taxi services like Uber, Ola, Rapido, etc. do not operate in Goa.
